Overview

Ms. Brierley Burdette and Mrs. Jennifer Meckley serve as the counselors for SEMS.  Ms. Burdette works with students whose last name begins with the letters A - M, and Mrs. Meckley works with students N - Z.   Mrs. Cindy Hall  is the guidance secretary.  The school counselor office provides many services to students, staff, and parents.  Individual and small group counseling, classroom lessons, conflict resolution, and the coordination of students' schedules and grades are just a few of the services available.  In addition, the counselor staff organizes parent/teacher conferences, participates on the Olweus Bullying Prevention Committee, coordinates transition for incoming 7th graders, assists the 8th graders with transition to high school, and coordinates and assists teachers in administering standardized tests, as well as the State-wide assessments, such as PSSA and Keystone testing.

The CARE (Children Assistance Resource Evaluation) Team, another component of counselor services, is designed to help students overcome problems associated with drugs and alcohol and/or mental health issues.  The counselors work together with teachers, staff, parents, and administrators to assist in the development of students' emotional and personal growth throughout the learning process.

Feel free to contact the school counselor office at 717-382-4851 ext. 2830 with questions you may have concerning any of the guidance services.

We wish everyone an exciting and successful school year!
